BMS to protest against SEZs

VISAKHAPATNAM: The district unit of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh has chalked
out a protest programme opposing the policy on special economic zones.

According to president K. Bhavani Sankarudu, dharnas will be staged at
Achyutapuram on November 13, at Bhimili on November 16 and at Duvvada on
November 20.

Demands

The BMS was demanding abolition of the current policy on SEZs and
opposing acquisition of agriculture land for them. It wants workers
unions to be allowed and labour laws implemented in SEZs, 75 per cent of
land to be allotted to industries and the displaced to be provided
employment in the zones.
